Due to Enter Shikari bringing some of their friends on their headline tour for their forthcoming album, A Kiss For The Whole World, we were treated to an opening performance by alt-rock-metal band, As Everything Unfolds. After an impressive debut in 2021 with their album, Within Each Lies The Other, the Buckinghamshire-based band had already proved that expectations should be high. Opening with the title track of their forthcoming sophomore album, Ultraviolet, it immediately highlighted Charlie Rolfe’s vocal prowess. With Jon Cassidy on synth and programming duties, you could see him jumping in anticipation of the drop. It was clear that the whole band was in tune with each other and their music.

Consistently keeping the energy at full throttle, ‘Hiding From Myself’, saw drummer, Jamie Gowers, creating a rolling beat for the build-up. With the crowd clapping along and Rolfe expressively using her hands while singing, they were clearly feeding off each other’s energy. The changes in tempo in ‘Flip Side’, only made the heavier sections hit harder with Rolfe spinning on stage, we were all wrapped up in the sonic web they were weaving. Debuting an unreleased song, ‘Slow Down’, Rolfe held an arm up while singing under a single spotlight – showing a more emotional and vulnerable side to them. Having almost an electronic element in ‘Blossom’, the crowd and Rolfe easily bounced off each other.

The crowd cheered as soon as the opening to ‘Felt Like Home’, kicked in and they were soon singing the words back. It’s clear that they have a highly committed fanbase and rightfully so. Their final track ‘On The Inside’, was introduced by the band telling their fans to bounce. It was their final chance to show their appreciation for the band. Singing the words perfectly to the chorus, this deep connection between them and their fans will certainly stand them in good stead in the future. The drums were as frantic as ever and were evocative of fellow metal-rock band, Beartooth.

A band clearly committed to giving their all to their performance, they had more than earned this platform to support Enter Shikari. Their latest album, Ultraviolet, will be released on April 21st and they have a forthcoming headline tour, which will see them stop off at both London and Manchester. You can book tickets for their live dates here.
